Planning Your Visit
Where to find us
Look out for the brown signs just off the A38 Devon Expressway, take the slip road signed Totnes/Buckfastleigh. Follow the signs to Buckfastleigh town centre. The Valiant Soldier Museum and Heritage Centre is easy to find at the bottom of Fore Street in Buckfastleigh, which is the main street. See the map below. There are several car parks within easy walking distance of the museum and for those arriving by steam train it’s a 10 minute walk from South Devon Railway.
The entry fee is £5 per adult, but entrance is free for children under 16 and wheelchair users. For seniors and students entry is £4.50 per person.
Those with disabilities are welcome but because of narrow doorways and stairs there is limited access, we do have a ramp to enable wheelchair access to the reception area, on the ground floor, where there is a virtual tour that can be enjoyed. We regret no dogs are allowed.
Group Bookings:
Group booking to the Valiant Soldier can be arranged for 10 people or more during the times the Valiant is closed to the general public – e.g. during the winter months, evenings, etc. For more information please email: info@valiantsoldier.org.uk or call, Tel: 01364 644522.
During the time the Museum is closed for the winter months the valiant volunteers work in the background, maintaining the building and planning interesting exhibitions for you to see. Our new exhibition for 2025 will cover the 1920s. If you have any stories from that period relevant to Buckfastleigh and surrounds pleas let us know.
